Mid-Winter Workshop 2026
January 23-25, 2026 at Dickerson Middle School in Marietta, GA.
The 23rd annual workshop with early and newer music for Recorders, Brass, Viols and other “early” instruments will be held at Dickerson Middle School. This workshop is sponsored by the Atlanta Early Music Alliance (AEMA) and the Atlanta Chapter of the American Recorder Society (ARS-Atlanta) and encouraged by regional members of the Viola da Gamba Society (VdGSA).

Workshop Format: All sessions are at A440 pitch. The Workshop will open Friday evening with an all play session. On Saturday, we will have a variety of topic-based sessions for which you can sign up followed by an all winds session and an all viols session. We will close on Sunday morning with another all play session.
Scholarships: Scholarships for intermediate or advanced players enrolled full time in college or high school are available upon a written personal or teacher request. Tuition would be reduced to $50. With the scholarship, there is an expectation to help with a few chores before, during and/or after the workshop. To inquire or apply, contact us here.
The American Recorder Society offers several categories of scholarships and grants appropriate for workshops such as ours. Visit their website for details. Other organizations sometimes have scholarship and grant programs and you are encouraged to seek these out and apply.
Illness Policy: Participants are encouraged to take a rapid test within 24 hours of the workshop if they have recently been exposed to respiratory illness or are feeling unsure about symptoms.
If you are ill: please do not attend the workshop if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness—including fever, persistent cough, vomiting, new respiratory symptoms, or anything you would not normally attend work/school with. You will receive a full refund if you need to withdraw due to illness.
Exposure & recent illness: If you have had close contact with someone with a confirmed contagious illness (e.g., COVID-19, influenza, RSV) within the past 3–5 days, we ask that you monitor for symptoms and consider masking or testing before attending.
Masking: Participants may choose to wear a mask at any time for their own comfort or protection.
