Mid-Winter Workshop 2025

The 22nd annual workshop with early and newer music for Recorders, Brass, Viols and other “early” instruments will be held at Dickerson Middle School. This workshop is sponsored by the Atlanta Early Music Alliance (AEMA) and the Atlanta Chapter of the American Recorder Society (ARS-Atlanta) and encouraged by regional members of the Viola da Gamba Society (VdGSA). ​

Faculty: Jody Miller, Pat Petersen, Anne Timberlake, Stewart Carter, Gail Ann Schroeder, and Sarah Mead.

Workshop Format: All sessions are at A440 pitch. The Workshop will open Friday evening with an all play session. On Saturday, we will have a variety of topic-based sessions for which you can sign up followed by an all winds session and an all viols session. We will close on Sunday morning with another all play session.

​

Scholarships: Scholarships for intermediate or advanced players aged 14 or above, are available upon a written personal or teacher request. Tuition would be reduced to $50. With the scholarship, there is an expectation to help with a few chores before, during and/or after the workshop.  To inquire or apply, contact us here.

The American Recorder Society offers several categories of scholarships and grants appropriate for workshops such as ours.  Visit their website for details. Other organizations sometimes have scholarship and grant programs and you are encouraged to seek these out and apply.

​

Illness Policy: Participants must ensure they are in good health before attending the workshop. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test is not required, at this time. However, you are strongly encouraged to take a rapid test on the day of, or no more than 24 hours before the workshop starts. 

​

If you develop symptoms or feel ill, do not attend. You will be issued a full refund.

This workshop will continue to follow the CDC's recommendations and guidelines. Participants will be notified of any changes to the workshop or CDC recommendations relevant to this workshop. If the covid risk goes up prior to the event, we may require proof of a negative test.
